--- CONSIDER PROTECTING OUR CONSTITUTIONAL FREEDOMS ---

Historian Lord Acton said it best:
"The danger is not that a particular class is unfit to govern. Every class is unfit to govern... Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Patriot Act:

Two things lacking that urgently need correcting:

Habeas Corpus:

The writ of habeas corpus is recognized as the fundamental instrument for safeguarding individual freedom against arbitrary and lawless state action.

Probable Cause:

A reasonable belief that a person has committed a crime. The test the court of appeals employs to determine whether probable cause existed for purposes of arrest is whether facts and circumstances within the officer's knowledge are sufficient to warrant a prudent person to believe a suspect has committed, is committing, or is about to commit a crime. It is undisputed that the Fourth Amendment, applicable to the states through the Fourteenth Amendment, prohibits an officer from making an arrest without probable cause.

Wise Words:

Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.
--Harry S. Truman

Keep in mind that:
The Patriot Act creates a conflict between the government not trusting the people
and how much the people can trust the government.

To:
Senators and Congressmen,
please vote for America:
repeal,
vote against renewing or expanding the Patriot Act

To the people:

  • Contact Elected Officials (Senators and Representatives as a Function of Zipcode or Address)

    and

for those Senators and Representatives who fail to Vote for America,
    please "Vote the Bums Out!"
They took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, and voting for
    or expanding the Patriot Act
    fundamentally violates that oath.

  • Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
    ----Benjamin Franklin
